FILIPINO NURSES IN IRELAND NEW GENERATION – A GROWING COMMUNITY OF INSPIRING NURSES

The Filipino Nurses in Ireland New Generation (FNING) conducted its first “Meet and Greet” event on August 13, 2016 in Makati Avenue, 48 Capel St, Dublin 1. The event was attended by the members of the group as well as the existent frontrunners of the different nursing associations in Ireland.

The Filipino Nurses in Ireland New Generation is a non-profit organization which aims to provide information to aspiring Filipino Nurses who wish to register in Ireland. It also envisions to create a new community of nurses willing to share and support good causes.

The group started as a Facebook page created by Mr. Michael Bryan Surla, together with the other two members namely Ms. Genevieve Ann  Corsino and Mr. Josh Nograles. At the beginning, the group was a private form of communication among nurses who have current applications in Ireland. But within ten months it has gained its popularity among aspiring nurses and bloomed into a 2700 members. At present, the group is able to deploy nurses in Ireland with the cooperation of some recruitment agencies in which the group is tied up with. The current group administrators also offer guidance to thousands of nurses inquiring regarding registration through personal messages.

The first “Meet and Greet” event was indeed a success. The occasion was highlighted by the attendance of the former Philippines Nurses’ Association in Ireland (PNAI) President, Mr. Jimmy Almodovar, as well as the current President, Ms. Benilda Mendoza Macabulos. The other PNAI Members, Ms. Vangie Bustamante Oconer (Treasurer) and Ms. Rhodelia Regala Denofra (Corresponding Secretary) were also present in the gathering. The officers enlightened the new nurses about the short history of PNAI, its benefits and their proposed programs and activities. The new nurses took the opportunity to register and renew their PNA registrations.

The Irish Nurses and Midwives Association (INMO), represented by Mr. Albert Murphy (Membership Campaign Coordinator) and Mr. Cres Abragan (INMO Officer), also had their presentation about safe nursing practice in Ireland. They have accentuated the issues about bullying in workplace, what to do in case of sentinel events such as medication errors, how the INMO could protect the nurses in case these incident happen, and the compensations of joining the INMO. The representatives from the Council of Filipino Leaders formerly Filipino Community Network (FCN) Ms. Jocelyn Dizon and St. James’ Hospital Nurses’ Association Ms. Jean Garcia also gave inspiring talks to the new nurses. Mr. Ringo Acle Olavario, also an FCN Coordinator rendered a conversation about finance and income protection.

It was such an educational day and the nurses were blissful to listen to these information. The group also had a raffle for free IELTS review and examination. Three lucky nurse aspirants from the Philippines received free review packages, sponsored by Mr Ervin Nil Temporal, owner of Niner 9.0 Review Center. Through the donations from the group members, two IELTS examination sponsorships were raffled. One candidate from Saudi Arabia and another from Oman were fortunately selected.

Everyone enjoyed the Filipino lunch buffet served by Ms. Angie Norton in Makati Avenue Restaurant. The new officers and Coordinator in County Cork for PNAI were also nominated by Ms. Macabulos. It was indeed a fruitful day that ended with all smiles and a promise that more activities and gathering will follow in the future.

KANGEN – The Miracle Water

I started drinking Kangen water last February and today I am writing a testimonial to inform every one of it benefits and why I decided to drink it for life. A colleague introduced Kangen water to me and that was the most delicious water I have ever tasted.  It is produced by the machine from Enagic’s innovative water technology.

For over four decades, Japan-based Enagic International has been the leading manufacturer of specialized high quality water ionizer generating systems, which are distributed globally. Kangen Water machines are used in hundreds of thousands of homes worldwide to transform regular tap water into pure, healthy, electrolyzed reduced and hydrogen rich drinking water.

Not only do these devices filter your tap water, but they also produce ionized alkaline and acidic waters through electrolysis. These waters can be used for various purposes, including drinking, cooking, beauty, and cleaning.   (source:  https://www.enagic.com/enagic.php).

The following are the many benefits of Kangen water based on my testimonial  and some research:

  1. HYDRATION – Kangen water hydrates your body better than plain water. I indeed felt the difference because when I came here in Ireland, I used to drink from the tap. I knew that the tap water contains lots of chlorine that makes me feel thirsty afterwards. When I switched to Kangen, I feel that I am really hydrated. My lips feel soft and I don’t really get tired even after a long day duty.
  1. DETOXIFICATION – Alkaline ionized water provides the body with daily cleanse. Your kidney will thank you as ion trapping draws out acidic toxins. It is also good for the liver as increased levels of antioxidants promote blood cleansing. Kangen water helps wash out the alcohol in your system. I observed that I don’t easily get drunk when I drink Kangen with liquor.
  1. BALANCED BODY pH – Research shows that raising the pH of urine by just 1 pH can prevent or eliminate the symptoms of metabolic syndrome such as obesity, high blood pressure, cholesterol, high blood sugar, and kidney stones. A recent clinical study shows that alkaline water can fight harmful metabolic acidosis by raising blood pH 40-70% within the normal blood pH range.
  1. WEIGHT LOSS – Hydration allows you to have better work outs so you will be able to burn more calories. A recent study shows that people who started drinking alkaline water lost an average of 12 lbs. in two months and the only change they made was drinking alkaline water.
  1. ANTI AGING – Alkaline water triples the antioxidant strength of Vitamin C and alone acts to counteract harmful reactive oxygen species which damage DNA and tissues. Combined, alkaline water and Vitamin C work effectively to neutralize harmful free radicals.
  1. HEART HEALTH AND BLOOD PRESSURE – Alkaline ionized water has been shown to reduce blood pressure and lower cholesterol levels in people with mineral deficiencies.
  1. LIVER HEALTH – Alkaline water has been shown to reduce oxidative stress that affects the liver. Alkaline water has also been shown to increase levels of a critical antioxidant that protects the liver.
  1. BONE HEALTH – Research shows a clear link between alkaline water and bone health. When your body’s pH balance becomes acidic, your body will adjust it by stealing calcium from your bones.
  1. DIGESTIVE HEALTH – Research suggests that alkaline water reduces the symptoms of colitis, loose bowels and constipation.
  1. SPORTS PERFORMANCE – I feel more hydrated with greater endurance, faster recovery and more energy.

So folks, do consider Kangen water because of the masses of benefits it offers. You can send me message whenever you’re interested. To be healthy, let’s start from the inside. The Kangen water team is here to help you understand how Kangen water really works and help you to live a healthier life. Consider Kangen now and live happier and healthier for the years to come.

Oh My Ireland!

Life was never the same since I came in Ireland. I was one of the lucky few who was hired by this lovely nation as they opened their doors to accept nurses to fill in their shortage. I came in early 2016 and I was mesmerized by how beautiful this country is. They call it “the emerald isle” because everything you see is pleasing and green.

The weather was a huge challenge for me when I first arrived here. It was cold, raining and the wind is dreadful as if there is always a storm. I had to wear layers of clothing to protect myself from the icy weather. But then the people are warm and friendly and I felt like this is the place I want to be.

It is summer while I write this blog and I can say that this is the best time of the year. I never knew that I could wear miniskirts and flip flops here. Everybody is blissful and everything seems to be in place when the sun shines brightly and its warmth can be felt on the skin. The sun sets after 10 in the evening and I have to adjust my sleeping routine.

Aside from the weather, communication was also a challenge as I had to adjust with the Irish accent. I am working in the hospital handling patients and went through the adaptation program. But we, Filipinos are known to be assertive. To be safe, I always ask my colleagues to repeat instructions that are not very clear and thanks God Almighty I have endured my adaptation and became a registered nurse after few months.

As I write this blog, I can feel the contentment and happiness of being here in Ireland. I envision myself of staying here for the successive years of my life. I want to raise my child and my future children here in this gorgeous place. And Oh my Ireland! You are the place I want to be!
